2020 Phase One Training & Team Letter

2020-Phase-One-Training

The Virginia Governor has given Northern Virginia the green light to move into Phase One of reopening. We have worked diligently with the Jr. NBA and local communities to devise a plan to safely reopen the in-person programming of Slam City. Our number one goal is safety and we will take every precaution possible to achieve that goal.

On Friday, June 5th we will begin in-person training sessions for our Training and Team Members.

  • In-person sessions will be held outside at the nZone on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
  • Virtual sessions will continue and will now be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • In-person sessions will occur as follows:
    • Players will be divided into small groups of no more than 5 players and one coach per group, and will be spaced 10 ft apart within their groups.
    • All coaches will be required to wear face masks and will remain at least 10 ft. from players. There will be no physical contact between players and coaches.
    • Slam City basketballs will be available for use - two bins will be provided for Slam City basketballs, one marked “clean” and the other marked “used”.
    • Disinfectant will be available for players and coaches and all basketballs will be disinfected before each use.It is recommended that players bring their own basketball (names marked clearly on the ball).
    • Sessions will consist of ballhandling, conditioning, and agility with use of resistance bands and cones.

Slam City Team Members will start training outside at the nZone in preparation for the season. We expect Tournaments across the country to resume August 1st. The expected Phases are as follows:
